The Sun have reported that La Liga Spanish team Valencia have made Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko their number one target for January’s transfer window. Valencia have valued Sissoko at £22million and hope that he can help the side in their Champions League campaign.
Valencia were interested in buying Sissoko over the summer transfer period but failed to land a deal with Tottenham. Valencia have had a brilliant start to their season in the La Liga, they currently sit in second place only four points behind Barcelona and four points above Real Madrid.
The ex-Newcastle player had a rocky first season with Tottenham, only starting eight games and not quite living up to the £30million they paid for him. However, the 28 year old has recently returned to his old form, helping Tottenham to third place in the Premier League on 23 points, equal with second place Manchester United.
Mauricio Pochettino has expressed plans to feature Sissoko in his Tottenham squad this season, but given that he has many other midfield options, for the right price he may decide to sell Sissoko knowing that he has the squad to cover him. Tottenham will have a big decision to make come January.
Sissoko is a valuable player who can play anywhere across the midfield. After his improvement this season, he has been recalled to the France international squad ahead of the World Cup.
This would be a risky move for Pochettino, as Sissoko has clearly become an important play maker in the Tottenham side this season. For Sissoko this would also be risky as he may not get as much game time at a new club, and ahead of the World Cup he will need to be playing regularly to get noticed for the France squad.
