Huddersfield Town travel to Birmingham City in the hope of ending their losing streak and take a step towards Championship safety.

The Terriers have built up a 11-point gap between themselves and the bottom three but are still looking over their shoulder after three defeats on the bounce.

Town have not lost four in a row since the 2000/01 season – ironically they were relegated from the Championship (then Division 1) that season with a last day defeat to Birmingham.

Chris Powell’s side have only won once in their last seven matches and have one scored just one goal and conceded nine in their last three.

Huddersfield have struggled away from home this season, only three teams have a worse record on their travels, but they have won on their last two visits to St Andrew’s.

Powell is without striker Nahki Wells, who has only recently returned to non-contact training after injury, and forward Harry Bunn looks doubtful due to a hamstring injury.

On-loan defender David Edgar is not eligible to play against his parent club.

A win for Birmingham could see the Blues climb back into the top half of the table should other results go their away.

Gary Rowett’s men came back from the jaws of defeat last weekend to high-flying Derby County. The Blues were 2-0 down but a 93rd minute penalty from Paul Caddis and a 96th minute equaliser from Clayton Donaldson rescued a dramatic draw at the iPro Stadium.

That draw extended Birmingham’s unbeaten run to three matches following back-to-back victories over Brentford and Blackpool.

The Blues have lost just one of their last six home games and have lost just two in 11 under the management of Rowett.

Birmingham will be without midfielder Stephen Gleeson as he serves the final game of his three-match ban.

New signing Robert Tesche could start in midfield while Callum Reilly’s departure on loan could mean an involvement in the matchday squad for Reece Brown.

Donaldson’s equaliser against Derby could earn him a recall in place of former Town striker Lee Novak but the Blues are still without Koby Arthur, Michael Morrison, Gavin Gunning and Matt Green due to injury.
