Last season’s Premier League champions Leicester go into this match having won their first ever Champions League match in midweek, comfotably beating Club Brugges 3-0 away. Having said that, the Foxes were been humbled 4-1 by Liverpool in last weekend’s Premier League fixture and have won just one game so far this season (2-1 vs Swansea), having lost 2-1 to Hull City in their opening game and drawing 0-0 against Arsenal.
League newcomers Burnley surprised many with their 2-0 win over Liverpool three weeks ago, but have only managed to take a point out of their other three fixtures after their 1-1 draw against Hull last weekend, losing 1-0 to Swansea and 3-0 to Chelsea in their other two fixtures.
In recent times, Leicester have a phenomenal record against the Clarets, having not lost to them since both teams played each other in the Championship way back on the 21st of August 2010, in a match that saw Burnley win 3-0. Since then, Leicester have managed to win 6 of the 9 fixtures that have followed that, and have never been beaten by Burnley in the Premier League.
Leicester will be boosted by the possibility that defenders Jeff Schlupp and Danny Simpson and midfielder, Nampalys Mendy may be fit enough to return to first team action this weekend. Record signing Islam Slimani is also in line to make his Premier League debut after starring for the club in their Champions League win on Wednesday night. Burnley have a fully fit squad available to them, minus striker Ashley Barnes, who has been a long term absentee with a hamstring injury.
Overall this looks like it could be a close match, but Leicester will be the favourites as they’re at home and will be motivated even more by that as they look to put a winning streak together.
Prediction: Leicester 3-1 Burnley.
