The Philippe Coutinho saga has been handed another episode, with his future at Liverpool still dubious. In fact, the fog that once shrouded this story has become even more unclear, as La Liga club, Barcelona seek greater certainty before they move for him again in January.
According to the Bleacher Report, French club PSG, are now looking to hijack the Brazilian from Barcelona’s clutches. Barcelona’s pride was truly bruised last summer, losing star Brazilian Neymar to PSG, in turn failing miserably to replace him with a Brazilian of their own (Coutinho).
The Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) reported the Catalan club are now looking for stronger assurance on Coutinho’s availability before they expend all their efforts to sign him in January. They would look to avoid a repeat of the failed summer activity, that left them with egg on their faces.
Barcelona ended up signing French wonder kid Ousmane Dembélé from Dortmund, but they will exercise their insatiable yearning for Coutinho when the January transfer window opens up.
However, this won’t be so straight forward, even with Coutinho making his intentions known that he wants to leave Anfield. There are more problems that have stepped in the way of signing Coutinho. Barcelona’s monumental wage bill has said to be a potential barrier that could blindside this deal from materialising.
Enter French club, PSG, who have shown of late that no figure is too much for them . Barcelona, will rightfully be fearful of PSG’s interest in their target.
With fellow Brazilians already on their team, PSG will be hoping to send both Neymar and Dani Alves to try seduce Coutinho to join the french outfit.
