This Sunday, top of the league Manchester City travel to the John Smith stadium to face Huddersfield.
David Wagner’s men will be hoping to make their home advantage count against Man City. Having only lost one from seven Premier League matches at home this season, Huddersfield will be hoping to surprise City in the same way that they surprised United with a 2-1 win in October.
Man City had a mid-week Champions League fixture against Feyenoord on Tuesday night. Pep Guardiola fielded a strong team against Feyenoord, but was disappointed with the lazy performance of his players to only gain a 1-0 victory. Fernandinho, David Silva and Leroy Sane were rested, but are all expected to feature against Huddersfield.
Man City currently sit right at the top of the Premier League table with 34 points, eight points clear of second place Man United. Huddersfield have had a mixed start to the season and sit in tenth with 15 points.
These two teams have only played each other competitively three times since the turn of the century. Of these three matches, two have ended in draws and one a 5-1 victory for Man City.
Guardiola’s side will be without John Stones as he is still suffering from a hamstring injury that he picked up against Leicester last weekend. Benjamin Mendy also remains out of action through injury. There are concerns over David Silva as he is suffering from an ongoing neck problem, although he is still likely to play this weekend.
Huddersfield will be without centre-back Michael Hefele and Philip Billing. They will also be missing Jon Stankovic who is struggling to recover from a knee injury. Kasey Palmer has recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained in September so could potentially feature.
If Man City win on Sunday then they will have 37 League points which would be the best points tally of a team in 13 games of a Premier League season, beating their own record of 35 set in 2011-12.
Predicted Result: Huddersfield 1-3 Manchester City
