The Gunners travel to Cologne on Thursday to play out their next Group H Europa League clash.

After a surprising 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend, Arsenal are in great form going into their fixture against FC Köln. With spirits high, Arsène Wenger and his men look ready to make it two wins against the German side.

Köln must win their next two fixtures if they want to progress to the round of 32. But facing top of the table Arsenal, the odds aren’t in their favour.

The first meeting with Peter Stöger’s side was delayed by one hour due to reckless Köln fans breaking through a barrier at the Emirates Stadium. Some Arsenal fans were reported to have left the match before kick off even began due to feeling ‘unsafe’. But after a negative start to the evening, Arsenal gave their fans something to cheer about.

Wenger’s team came back after a 1-0 deficit and netted three goals in the second half. The trio of goals clinched all three points for the home side. Alexis Sanchez featured on the scoresheet against both Köln and Spurs in their latest Premier League clash. The Chilean forward seems to have been reborn from the ashes after his recent quiet spell on the pitch.

Arsenal’s spot at the top of the Group H table means they will be sailing through to the next stage regardless of what happens. The London club have accumulated a very impressive 10 points and have a five goal lead on the Serbian side Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade). Their match against Köln will be a more relaxed one for Arsenal, but no doubt it won’t be shy of goals.

Köln are in serious hot water across all competitions. With just two points, they’re in last place in the Bundesliga and they’re also bottom of their Europa League group. There’s only two points between them and Red Star Belgrade who sit in second place, so it’s certainly not impossible to progress to the next round. But with Arsenal hungry for another win, they won’t be going easy on Stöger’s men. It’s going to be an uphill climb for the Germans if they want to bag their place in the successful 32.

Score prediction: FC Köln 0-3 Arsenal
