This Sunday the Premier League sees Everton host Watford at Goodison Park. Both teams will be on the back foot after suffering losses last weekend, Everton against Leicester and Watford against Stoke.
Everton have had an awful start to this Premier League season having gained only eight points from 10 matches. The blues currently sit in 18th position in the Premier League putting them in the relegation zone above only Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.
Having not won any of their last seven games in all competitions Everton have almost forgotten what it feels like to win.
Everton sacked their manager Ronald Koeman last week and have since been on the hunt for a new manager to save the team from relegation. Many names have been floated around, but the most recent candidates include; ex-Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce and Wolves’ manager Nuno Espirito.
Everton have played in the top football division for a record 114 seasons only missing out 4 times since the creation of the Football League in 1888. If Everton were to be relegated this season, then it would be the first time since 1952.
In comparison, Watford have had an excellent start to this season only losing three from 10 matches. Watford currently sit in 8th position in the Premier League.
Their next few fixtures see them play West Ham at home and Newcastle away, these games shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge and this puts them in a good position to move further up the table and really build on their early momentum.
Watford must play without striker and captain Troy Deeney on Sunday as he has received a three-match ban for violent conduct against Joe Allen in the Stoke game last weekend. Deeney squared up to Allen and grabbed him by the neck pressing his fingers into the Stoke players face. His actions were not seen by the referee but were caught by the cameras. The loss of their captain will be a big blow to the Watford side.
Score Prediction: Everton 1-2 Watford
