A rejuvenated Everton side will host Swansea on Monday, looking to continue their fine form under new boss Sam Allardyce.
The Toffees have only conceded once in their last five games in all competitions, in the Merseyside derby last weekend. In that time they have managed 11 goals, and they now find themselves in tenth place, eight points off the relegation zone.
Wayne Rooney has been Everton’s key man for the last few weeks, a hat trick against West Ham, scoring the equaliser against Liverpool and scoring the winner at Newcastle in midweek. Swansea will have to keep him quiet if they are to have any chance of getting a result.
Everton have a few players still out of action, the likes of Coleman and Baines. Yannick Bolasie made a return to action, training with the U23s last month, although he is still a while away from returning to first team action.
Swansea on the other hand have shown very little sign of improvement, and find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table.
In their last six games Swansea gave managed just two goals, and have lost four, drawing once (0-0 vs Bournemouth) and managing one win (1-0 vs fellow relegation battlers West Brom).
Only eight teams have conceded less goals than Swansea this season, their problem at the moment is scoring them, they are the only team so far not to reach double figures for goals.
They will be hoping that Wayne Routledge, who is set to return from injury for Monday’s game, can provide an injection of pace and penetration to the side.
On the face of it, these are two sides whose fortunes are the opposite each other, Everton are on the up, while Swansea don’t look like getting out of their slump any time soon.
An early goal for the Toffees will really pile the pressure on Swansea and it could end up another heavy defeat. But if they manage to keep Everton at bay, the crowd could become restless and they might be able to hold out for a draw, or even scrape a win for themselves.
Match Prediction: 2-0
