Saturday’s early kick off sees Chelsea host Newcastle United, two teams in very contrasting form at the moment.

Chelsea currently sit third but a huge 12 points off of table topping Manchester City. Newcastle still remain twelfth but are now looking over their shoulders after going winless in the last five.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six with a draw at Liverpool being their only dropped points in the last  month. Home wins against Watford, Manchester United and Swansea, as well as a win at Bournemouth, have pushed Antonio Conte’s men right back into the title picture. Chelsea have had eight different scorers in the last six, showing how Conte has spread the responsibility rather than heap the pressure on star players Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata.

Newcastle on the other hand are struggling, in fact they’re bottom of the form table in the last six games. Just one win in their last six, which came against Crystal Palace last month means the Toon are winless in five and continue to slide down the table. Defeats away to Burnley and Manchester United and home defeats to Watford and Bournemouth came before a draw at West Brom, where they came from two goals down to earn a point.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Eden Hazard are likely to start after being given a rest against Swansea in midweek. David Luiz looks set for a spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed the defender has fluid on his knee. Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso will continue in the wing back roles with Alvaro Morata set to lead the line again. The before mentioned Azpilicueta is set to start in defence alongside midweek goalscorer Antonio Rudiger and either Gary Cahill or Andreas Christensen.

Jamaal Lascelles remains out with an ankle injury. with Christian Atsu and Paul Dummett also remain out with thigh and hamstring injuries respectively. The out of form Joselu is set to start up front again despite his goalless run and fans favourite Aleksandr Mitrovic waiting in the wings for his opportunity. England international Jonjo Shelvey will have to be satisfied with a spot on the bench with Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden forming quite the solid midfield partnership.

Score Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle United
