This Sunday, Southampton make the short journey down the road to the Vitality stadium, where they face a struggling Bournemouth side.

In the Premier League, Bournemouth currently sit in 15th position with 14 points after their 2-1 loss to Burnley mid-week. Southampton sit up in 11th position on 16 points. However, if Bournemouth were to beat Southampton on Sunday, then they would overtake them in the league table.

Southampton almost came away with an impressive draw at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday night against Man City. Unfortunately, a last-minute goal from Raheem Sterling made the end score a 2-1 loss for the Saints.

Southampton will be without Targett and Soares who are both still injured. The Saints have not had much injury trouble this season and will have an extensive squad to choose from for this match. It is likely that the team will remain mostly the same as it was against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Southampton have some tricky fixtures ahead of them, in December they will face Arsenal at home, Chelsea away, Tottenham away and Manchester United away. Southampton really need to make this game against Bournemouth count.

Bournemouth have had more of an injury problem this season, and currently have four men out of action due to injury. Therefore, they will definitely be missing Smith, Mings and Federici on Sunday. Bournemouth winger, Junior Stanislas has been plagued with groin injuries in the last two years, but is recovering well and hopeful to return soon, possibly even featuring in Sunday’s game.

None of Bournemouth’s players have scored more than three goals so far this season. Bournemouth are in desperate need of a clinical goal scorer to help them out of this dry spell. Out of their 14 matches, Eddie Howe’s men have only scored 12 goals. The return of last season’s second top goal scorer Junior Stanislas, may however bring more goals for the side.

Predicted Result: Bournemouth 1-2 Southampton
