Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is being linked with a move to Manchester United. With reports in Italy claiming that Mourinho once again sent scouts to watch the player, in their 2-1 win against Sampdoria.
According to Sport Witness, Lazio want £88 million for the Serbian international. Although if the Red Devils are to get their man they will have to fight off European giants PSG, Manchester City and Juventus according to Football Italia.
Milinkovic-Savic is seen as an ideal replacement the Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who has been reluctant to extend his contract with United, which ends in the summer.
Many clubs have been watching Milinkovic-Savic recently, and he has proven to be a more than effective player both going forward and defensively.
Mourinho’s scouting team will have been more than impressed with the Serbs performance against Sampdoria. He scored Lazio’s equaliser in the 79th minute, before Caicedo went on to score a winner in stoppage time.
So far this season Milinkovic-Savic has managed to create 14 chances for team mates, as well as winning 21 tackles and making 14 interceptions. He has also managed to contribute directly with three goals and an assist, a true box to box midfielder.
Mourinho may well find himself unconcerned with Fellaini’s contract situation if United can reach an agreement with Lazio. At just 22 years old Milinkovic-Savic could create a formidable partnership in the United midfield alongside Paul Pogba, and United fans will be more than happy with this new younger spine being implemented at Old Trafford.
