The Mirror are reporting that Swansea and Wales captain Ashley Williams has agreed to join Everton in a £10 million deal.
Ronald Koeman has been left frustrated in his attempts to bring in new faces to Goodison Park this summer, but it seems Williams will now become his first signing as Everton boss, and in turn it will likely signal John Stones’ departure from the club.
Stones has been heavily linked with Chelsea and Manchester City this summer, with the latter said to be closing in on a deal for the England defender.
Williams, will bring a wealth of experience to Everton’s back line, perhaps replacing the ageing Phil Jagielka in the heart of defence, with Ramiro Funes Mori likely to also be first choice in the coming season.
Since winning promotion with Swansea, Williams has seen his stock rise rapidly, receiving approaches from Liverpool and Arsenal over the past few years, but it is Everton who look to have captured the signing of the powerful defender.
