Everton’s chances of signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart have reportedly been boosted by the news that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillesen. That move would then allow their current goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo to join City, in turn meaning that Hart could move to Everton to complete the usual chain of transfer reactions.
Barca’s technical director, Robert Fernandez, confirmed that they were chasing Cillesen and that the club were going to wait for that deal to be completed, before allowing Bravo to complete a move to the Etihad.
England’s number one has already been dropped for City’s first two games of the season against Sunderland and Stoke City, as new manager Pep Guardiola doesn’t trust him enough to be his first choice keeper and feels that he is unreliable and has thus decided to replace him with Willy Caballero in the net.
The disappointment of not playing has meant that Hart is looking for another club as he seeks first team football. The rumors are that he wants to make a move abroad, but Everton will be hoping to persuade him to stay in the Premier League.
With Everton boss throwing goalkeeper Joel Robles’ future into doubt recently, the move for Hart could make sense, although City would most likely only be willing to loan him to a fellow Premier League club. Despite already signing goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg this summer, who has been impressive in their opening two games, the newly appointed manager wants a trio of ‘good’ goalkeepers in his squad this season and is said to want Hart as the spearhead of that trio. Koeman recently said: “Maybe we will get a change in the goalkeepers. Everything is possible.”
There’s no doubt that Everton would be signing a world class goalkeeper in Joe Hart and if he wants to get his career back on the right track then a move to Goodison Park would make perfect sense for him in my opinion.
