According to The Daily Mail, Real Madrid have contacted Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Hazard has delayed signing a £300,000-a-week deal with Chelsea. The 26-year-old Belgian international signed with Chelsea in June 2012 for £32 million, since then he has made 186 league appearances and scored 62 goals for the club.
Real Madrid manager Zidane is an admirer of the Belgian playmaker and having had a poor start to the La Liga this season, Real Madrid are in need of some fresh players. Zidane’s side currently sit in fourth in the La Liga, well behind leaders Barcelona. Madrid also only managed second place in their Champions League group. This poor form from Madrid has sparked both the president and manager into wanting to sign some new talent.
Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane sees Hazard as a key part in rebuilding Real Madrid. Hazard is a well-known playmaker and has played a huge role in Chelsea’s Premier League success in recent years. Spanish outlet Diario Gol has claimed that Madrid’s president Florentino Perez has given Zidane permission to sign the Belgium.
Hazard made his international debut for Belgium in 2008 age 17, the youngest player in Belgium history, he has since made 82 appearances and scored 21 goals for his country.
Hazard admitted last month that it would be a dream to play for Zidane. “Everyone knows the respect I have for Zidane as a player, but also as a manager. He was my idol. I do not know what will happen in my career in the future. However, for sure, to play under Zidane would be a dream.”
A move could well be on the cards. This would be devastating for Chelsea fans as Hazard has arguably been Chelsea’s best player for some time now. Chelsea haven’t had the best start to this Premier League season, however they currently sit in third and are still very much in the title race. The loss of Hazard could make the title out of reach for Chelsea.
