Can Everton Choke Chelsea?

Can Everton Choke Chelsea?

Ronald Koeman’s men will be looking for revenge after they were thrashed 5-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard scored two goals in the reverse fixture to put Chelsea top of the Premier League for the first time since August.

Since the emphatic win, the Blues have shown why they deserve to be top of the table; winning 17 games from 22 in the league and only losing twice.

The Toffees have the third best home record in the premier league, only losing once in 17 games; 1-0 to Liverpool back in December.

Only Tottenham and Chelsea hold a better home record.

Top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku, is currently sitting on 24 premier league goals for the season and is favourite for the golden boot. He would be the first Evertonian to win since the premier league was re-branded in 1992.

The Belgian international has an average of scoring every 121 minutes in the premier league. He is joint second with Sergio Aguero, with Harry Kane leading the way with a goal every 105 minutes.

Chelsea forward, Diego Costa, is on 19 goals for the season after adding two to his tally against Southampton on Tuesday.

Antonio Conte’s side have not kept a clean sheet in 11 premier league matches, their last was against Hull in January.

Everton midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin, has warned Chelsea not to be complacent on Sunday.

“It will be hard for them on Sunday and we won’t let them breathe, or have any space on the pitch”.

The west London side travelled to Goodison Park twice last season. Everton won 3-1 in the League and 2-0 in the FA cup.

With Diego Costa rumoured to be unsettled, this could be a chance for Lukaku to prove himself to Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Score three goals and become the goalkeeper. A simple game, usually played for fun rather than to produce any winner.
