Queens Park Rangers have made a bid for West Bromwich Albion Striker Peter Odemwingie, according to Sky Sports. Harry Redknapp is determined to put his stamp on the squad he inherited from Mark Hughes and is desperate to bring in fresh faces in the January Transfer window.
Odemwingie has established himself as a fans favourite at The Hawthorns since moving to the Baggies in 2010. However this term under new boss Steve Clarke, Odemwigie has only made nine league starts as Shane Long is generally preferred up front. Odemwingie is a Nigerian international and has hit 29 goals for West Brom in all competitions.
If he were to move to QPR, it would indicate that Redknapp truly believes that he needs reinforcements up front. Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur highlights the need for extra firepower. It is also believed that Redknapp may go back to former club Tottenham and seek to sign Jake Livermore on loan to bolster their midfield options.
QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes has openly stated that he will make funds available to strengthen in the transfer window, but Redknapp is keen to get value for money as QPR have a lot of big earners on the wage bill at Loftus Road already. Redknapp will be looking to offload a few as well as bring in new faces and until the end of the transfer window. It will be interesting to watch the revolving door at Loftus Road as the players come and go.
