According to the Sun, Spurs and Manchester United are after St Etienne striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Seeing as The Sun’s article is an incredible two sentences long I thought I should elaborate on a player who’s been kicking around since the mid 2000′s!
Aubameyang started his career at Ac Milan (A club under The Sun’s radar) and he enjoyed loan spells at Dijon, Lille and Monaco.(Who knows who these clubs are!). He was then loaned to St Ettiene in January of 2011 before making his move permanent in December of that year.
The Gabonese striker has scored almost a goal every other game for St Etienne and netting 8 times this season including this effort against SC Bastia.
After scoring in a 2-0 victory over Rennes he pulled out a spiderman mask and pretended to spin webs. The Premier League has certainly been lacking something since Facundo Sava’s mask wearing escapdes at Fulham so I’m all for the one of the best strikers in Ligue 1 to join the Barclays Premier League.
He also made the news recently after warming up in a match against Lyon wearing a pair of £2,500 boots encrusted with Swarovski crystals and donned the same pair in the African Cup of nations earlier this year.
Valued at £7million, Aubameyang could be just the ticket for not only Spurs but Liverpool, Arsenal or even Newcastle as they’ll all be looking for another goalscorer in the forthcoming window. However his price may be inflated in January because of his recent form and because it could dramatically effect St Etienne’s chances of qualifying for Europe should he leave.
Thankfully for hungry football fans, 3 & in are here to elaborate on the stories and players the newspapers seem to know very little about!
