Jamie O’Hara was crucified yesterday on Twitter after the footballer supposedly earning tens of thousands of pounds a week bemoaned how complicated his life was because of money worries. The player who once played for Spurs is now on the books of Championship side Wolverhamton Wanderers.
Married to glamour girl and one time serial WAG Danielle Lloyd, O’Hara’s Tweets simply reinforced the popular belief that professional footballers are overpaid and when not with a ball at their feet, pretty gormless.
The irony of O’Hara’s last tweet beggars belief. Instead of appreciating that whatever his financial woes are are – he earns weekly more than most oridinary folk do annually – he pursues the notion that he is ‘a cut above’ and that while people might attack him out of jealousy online, in real life they would ‘ask for a photo.’
On the day that the Chancellor announced an extension of two years to money saving measures to be imposed in the UK it’s difficult to believe your average footballer even knows who George Osborn is.
O’Hara has set up ‘a private Facebook’ page for any sycophants out there who wish to hang on the every word of a bloke who – if he wasn’t earning excessive amounts of cash – be of any special interest to anyone on planet earth.
