talkSPORT are reporting that Manchester United are chasing the signature of a new striker in the January transfer window. He takes the form Austrian international, Marcel Sabitzer. He’s hardly a house-hold name, but at 18 he represents his country at under-21 level and has a senior cap to his name.
Sabitzer is currently playing for FC Admira Wacker Mödling in the Austrian Bundesliga. So far this season he has 3 goals to his name playing from an attacking right hand side position.
The young Austrian is gaining interest from clubs across Europe including Juventus, Schalke 04 Sampdoria and now Manchester United.
For me it seems a bit of strange winter purchase. The mid-season transfer window usually offers the opportunity for clubs to bolster their teams with players that will hopefully make an immediate difference. Sabitzer does not appear to be a player that would take the Premier League by storm in the latter part of this season; rather he would be a squad player whom Sir Alex can mould into a top performer over time.
Never the less Sabitzer could be available for just over £1,000,000, a bargain for some hot European talent some may say. Perhaps Sir Alex is looking to decrease the average age of his squad further. Someone needs to balance out the seasoned old warriors like Scholes (38) and Giggs (39) right?
