According to The Mirror Newcastle boss Alan Padrew is looking to sign Saints captain Adam Lallana to help bolster a struggling Newcastle side that has only won 1 game since beating West Brom way back in October.
It appears a bid of £5million will be enough to pry Lallana, who spent 13 months working under Pardew away from Southampton but it appears to be seen whether £5million represents value for money for Newcastle. Newcastle could sign Lallana for £5million and get a very good player who has shone at Southampton but why has he appeared to be doing so well at Southampton?
I believe it is because he’s been given as much time and freedom as he wants in the Southampton midfield and with such a good strike of a ball, whether it is for a cross or shot then he seems to be a very good player however there is a possibility that coming into a midfield pack that contains Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita.
This could prove a genuine issue for Lallana and possibly stunt his growth as he has to fight for a place in the squad whereas at Southampton, as captain he is practically guaranteed 90 minutes every week.
Either way Lallana coming to Newcastle can only be a good signing for Newcastle, he provides stability to the team, a player who can play in many positions across midfield and someone who Newcastle players can pass to if they run into trouble.
