The Daily Mail have reported that Manchester Untied target Marco Reus has been offered a new contract with Borussia Dortmund. It is suggested that the contract on the table is worth a huge six million a year.
Manchester United’s chase for Marco Reus has been one of the stories dominating the run in towards the summer transfer window. The news will come as a blow to United fans as they desperately want their side to sign top players and inject some pace into an uncharacteristically lethargic United side.
His current deal ends in 2017, but the German side are said to be very keen on him signing a new one, which would terminate the current release clause, which is momentarily around £30 million.
The reason why Reus is one of the hottest names nearing the transfer window is simply because of the class he possesses. The German has scored 16 goals in 28 games in Das Bundesliga this season, also contributing 12 assists.
The 24 year old is an incredible talent, 30 million doesn’t necessarily get you a world class player these days, but in the case of Reus it certainly would.
Dortmund have been associated as a side that struggles to hold onto their top players. Recently they have lost Kagawa and Gotze, while striker Lewandowski has already agreed to join rivals Bayern Munich.
If they can hold onto Reus, both Klopp and Dortmund fans, will breath a sigh of relief and move into next season with more confidence of progressing and holding onto their future stars. The explosive winger is adored at Dortmund and is said to be very happy playing his football for such fans. Champions League football next season is also a huge factor which will further persuade him to stay.
Unfortunately for Manchester United, they simply can’t offer Champions League football but they will still be able to buy top players. If they were serious about Reus it will come as a blow, but with the amount of players they are being linked with they are surely set to strengthen their side with the necessary talent they require.
