On a run of five straight victories in the Premier League – including crucial wins over the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle – Manchester United are sitting confident at the top of the table, two points clear of neighbours Man City.
Norwich, however are undefeated in their last four league matches, and have been solid at home all season – losing only to Liverpool. With a poor start to the season, Chris Hughton’s side are now slowly moving up the table.
Looking at Premier League odds, United have scored 29 goals already this campaign – five more than next best Fulham – but have conceded more than any of the current top six, so two clean sheets are unlikely in this fixture.
The Canaries have been shy in front of goal for the first 11 games, but it is doubtful The Red Devils would have sorted out their leaky defence just yet, however, if they keep winning then surely they won’t mind.
After Javier Hernandez’s heroics against Villa last weekend, his manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that the Mexican may have picked himself to start in the next fixture, and with doubts over the fitness of Wayne Rooney, it looks likely Chicharito and Robin van Persie could start up front together in Saturday’s 17:30 kick-off.
Norwich seem to have a near-full squad available, with only Russell Martin and Spurs loanee Harry Kane still out injured.
United have doubts over Rooney and Jonny Evans, but are still without the missing Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones, Shinji Kagawa and Nani.
After this same fixture last season at Carrow Road finished with a last-gasp 90th minute winner from the legendary Ryan Giggs, to make the score 2-1 to United, Norwich will be looking for some sort of revenge.
However with the growing spirit that the Reds seem to keep gathering, and having won 12 of their last 14 games against Norwich, it is doubtful United will be dropping any points. Norwich could sneak in a goal, but with Ferguson’s side even gaining 15 points from losing positions this season, a comfortable victory for the Scot is likely to be on the cards.
Prediction: 1-3 to United
