Juventus are planning a raid on Liverpool for midfield maestro and Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho.
Sports Mole (via Don Balon) are reporting that the Old Lady are preparing a £155 million offer for Coutinho at the personal request of coach Max Allegri who feels the need for a big statement signing is necessary in order to finally win the Champions League.
Allegri’s Juventus have reached the final of the Champions League in two of the past three seasons, but he has seen his team lose out on both occasions to Spanish powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Now Allegri believes the signing of Coutinho will allow Juventus to match the level of the two aforementioned Spanish teams and finally be victorious in the Champions League.
Juventus who were previously said to be interested in Coutinho’s Liverpool team mate Emre Can will face stiff competition for Coutinho from long term suitors Barcelona and French powerhouse PSG, who are sure to be strong competitors for his signature after rejuvenating their previously ailing project with the record acquisitions of Kylian Mbappe and Coutinho’s close friend and Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr.
Barcelona who still hold a keen interest in Coutinho had three separate approaches knocked back by Liverpool last summer after a long and drawn out saga which resulted in Coutinho staying at Liverpool, while the top brass at Anfield are still adamant that their star man is not available for transfer at any price and any potential suitor are wasting their time.
However should Juventus, Barcelona or any of Coutinho’s suitors bid £155 million upwards then Liverpool will have some serious thinking to do.
