Why Arsenal didn’t buy a keeper

Posted by Last man back On September - 1 - 2010

There are great mysteries in life. Such as the lost city of Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle, how they made Stonehenge, the fact that people pay the slightest bit of attention to anything Stan Collymore or Robbie Savage says and Arsenal not buying a goalkeeper during this transfer window.

Some of them are easily solved:

Atlantis – either never existed or it was sunk by a gigantic earthquake/tsunami or godzilla. The Bermuda Triangle was invented by Barry Manilow to enable a chart topping hit. Stonehenge was made with great difficulty, people are stupid and will listen to any old crap and as for the final one, well … erm … good question.

Here are some three and in suggestions as to why Arsenal failed to bring in a keeper.

1 – Sebastien Squillaci has been fitted with a forcefield which will prevent any shots reaching the Arsenal goalmouthTrading Places

2 – Manuel Almunia is a Jedi, not a very good Jedi but a Jedi nonetheless, and he told Arsene Wenger ‘This is not the goalkeeper you are looking for’ when he saw him looking at Mark Schwarzer’s scouting file

3 – Pat Rice and Arsene Wenger are having a ‘Trading Places‘ style bet with regard to Lukasz Fabianski.

4 – Vito Mannone’s people called up Fulham’s people and made them an offer they couldn’t refuse

5 – Wenger is hoping to bring back Alex Manninger and Richard Wright in January

6 – The Arsenal manager believes so strongly in Carlos Vela’s ability to score a hat-trick in every game he wants to make matches fairer by sticking with what he’s got.

7 – The thought of one of the current goalkeepers leaving made Emmanuel Eboue so upset he threatened never to wear his tiger suit again.

8 – It is impossible to make an English language anagram from ‘Wojciech Szczesny’. As he is the only unanagrammable goalkeeper in the Premier League it was thought best not to bring in somebody who would get in his way.

It was also felt that as Shay Given anagrams as ‘A sigh, envy’ it would be best to leave him at Man City so said anagram can remain applicable to Arsenal fans.

9 – The Arsenal board heard Alan Brazil on TalkSport insisting that Arsenal needed to buy a goalkeeper. Understandably they figured the best thing to do, in matters football, is the opposite of what Alan Brazil thinks and refused to sanction any deal.

10 – Bob Wilson, a keen student of Nostradamus, advised Arsene Wenger of prophecy XII which reads:

Connected by wires the masses complain
the man with the gloves brings so much pain
yet keep what you have for the silver refrain
bejesus said paddy over and over and over again

Please note this list is not conclusive. Feel free to suggest your own reasons. Many of these reasons may be entirely false, making the likelihood of one of them being true all the higher.

If you want a giggle, go read Le Grove today – the comments are like they’ve all been written by Lawrence Gray-Hodson

  2. G1971 says:

My thought is that Wenger is a myopic, stubborn twonk who likes to tease us fans. He also prefers to see the bank balance full, rather than the trophy cabinet.

    Just my opinion like.

G1971 are you sure? Your name suggets that you are an old time Gooner who can remember the years after ’71. We won nothing save an FA cup all the way to ’89. Your post is actually 1 of the stupidest i have read. It is so short but nearly every word is b*****s! You start with a ridiculous, personal attack on our most successful manager….ever. Do you really think that he did not buy a keeper because he is short sighted? Do you really think that the guy manages a football club using stubbornness? Do you really think he is a “Twonk” who gains pleasure from “teasing fans”? Do you have any of your own opinions other than this media invented claptrap? It is hilarious that at the end you say that it is just your opinion “like”. I doubt there is a bigger media puppet anywhere. And just to cover your(?) last mmm “point” it IS actually MORE IMPORTANT for a club to be run properly financially than to gain a trinket. Ask Portsmouth. And after that use your own brain to support the Arsenal instead of being a mouthpiece for the anti Arsenal media such as Brazil this morning. I was bloody embarrassed by them so called Gooners going on there.

  6. DT – will check that out.

    Raj – http://threeandin.com/author/lawrence-gray-hodson/

PT – I heard there was some fairly woeful stuff on TalkSport this morning all right. Although why any self-respecting Arsenal fan would ring in to that station is beyond me.

likes the comment by the guy above me.

Can you please introduce the like button? His rant is epic and spot on. 71-89… 18 years my friends… 18 years.. we’re not even 1/3rd close of anything like that, yet everyone is going hysterical. if you want to support a team merely because of their trophies, then may i suggest you look elsewhere.. and support say perhaps chelski or manure.

  8. Raj says:

Truely believe Almunia will have a better season, whether that is enough for us to win something time will tell..debateable whether the goal he conceded v Liverpool was his fault..(Thought he played well v Blackburn)and already look at Reina’s fuck up. Also Vander saar V Fulham..Spurs keeper v Wigan…ALL keepers make mistakes, hopefully he will keep his to a minimum. Some of the so called Arsenal supporters that rang into Talksport this morning were just embarrassing

  9. G1971 says:

I do remember the leaner years yes, but that is no excuse to wish to have them back. We moved stadium so we could compete in the transfer window and be a club, more or less, assured of silverware.

    This has categorically not happened.

The goalkeeping situation is one that most supporters see as a weakness, in fact Wenger suggested so himself 5 months ago, but despite declaring ‘we now have money’ has failed to address this weakness.

He has also failed to strengthen the squad and if you all think that this squad has the quality in depth to challenge for honours then you are going to be sadly disappointed.

So ptangclang whatever your name is, do not question my loyalty to this club, but forgive me for believing that Wenger knew the areas he needed to address, had the money tondo so, but did nothing other than spout his usual nonsense, lying to the fans about how he would act.

I assume you are one of the Arsene knows best sheep, well that’s fine, you keep believing, I will take the intelligent view and question his actions but that does not dilute my support of Arsenal the football club.

  10. It is an odd thing when criticism of a manager is dismissed as being more than that – e.g – of the club itself.

That said, the way fans are whacked into categories (Arsene Knows Best – Doomers etc) is also a bit mental.

  11. Woshy says:

Wenger shuld shut up his mouth whenever the transfer windows open coz he only brings anger, stress en dissapointment to Arsenal fans by not bringing in players he mention.ths is so bad en wish we get anotha coach

  12. Arsene Knows Shit says:

I detest the ‘Arsene Knows’ crowd. If they like the man so much go sit outside his house and erect a shrine. Meanwhile the rest of us Arsenal fans who want football success for the club will demand it and put pressure on management to perform on the field as well as off it. At the end of the day football is about winning, and winning is about silverware.
That’s why players play and why great players like Fabregas will come to the club. They don’t give too hoots about how rich the shareholders are or who owns the club.

  13. Jay says:

Arsene wenger needs to realise he is not the owner of arsenal FC, he has to realise that his job is to manage the TEAM. I have not really seen squillaci play but hope he proves to be a worth while asset and not just a “buy him beacuse he is available at a cheap price case”. We needed steel to be added to our defence and in buying a defender who last year played in DIVISION 2 IN FRANCE and throwing him in the deep end at ewood park was not the smartest thing to do. We got away with it that time!! We still needed another CB and another keeper. Arsenal want to challenge for all trophies and everyone knows we have the worst luck with injuries we should of been prepared for this season by signing more quality players. Its all well having a good start but the season has just started. Once the cup games and internationals come into affect players will get tired or injured and it will take its toll on our squad. Wenger has to realise ONLY BY HAVING AN AMAZING SQUAD WILL WE WIN THE TITLE. We will probaly have our strongest possible line-up about 5 times this season with our luck with fitness. Djorou is in a worst scenario than ledley king. At least ledley can play once or twice every fortnight. Djourou will be lucky if he plays 10 games this year. Anyway back to the point, i think wenger has to sometimes go against his philosopy of buying cheap and maximising profits and buy players which will make us an ultimate force.

  14. luke says:

Would have been better off for AW to stick to his present goalies from the very beginning. It would portray strong resolve against all odds, but by dilly dally around making noises to take the heat of the situation,he is wide open to deserved criticism now, either he is not fully behind his own remarks of defensive failings or he is just playing the fans. Not intelligence at work, that is obvious.

  15. Arsene Knows Shit says:

Brazil nut on Talksport was actually saying we are one or two players away from being a european cup winning side, and fuck me I actually agree with him. The problem we have is Wenger wants to prove a point about spending as little as he can …but like his stints at Monaco and Grampus Eight he will never quite push the boat out far enough to get his hands on the ultimate treasure. He’s used to finishing second.

  16. Rupe says:

    1. Almunia isn’t even CLOSE to being as bad as many make him out to be.
    2. Wenger quite rightly won’t pay over the odds for anyone, not even to placate whining impatient bloggers.
    3. Szczesny may be ready, if needed.

FFS, let’s get behind the team guys.

  17. Rupe says:

    Oh, and then there’s

    4. Almunia has been our keeper in seasons where we’ve come pretty close to winning the league, and our real problems those seasons have been elsewhere.
    5. Almunia has made a pretty decent start to the season, despite the speculation.

The key this season will be the defence not the keeper. We could do with Sagna & Clichy’s form picking up from last season and Gibbs/Eboue staying fit to provide cover, and one or two of Koscielny/Squillaci/Djourou coming somewhere close to being as good as Vermaelen. You never know, we might also see one of the chuckle brothers Denilson & Diaby having the kind of spurt that Song surprised us with last season so that we have cover for him. Overall, up front, and going forward from midfield we have strengthened this summer. There’s no reason to be pessimistic.

  18. TR7 says:

BREAKING NEWS!! ARSENE KNOWS SHIT is actually a spuds fan in disguise..

  19. Dr Octopus says:

G1971 and AKS, do one; in fact, do it together. Make like the experiment in Centipede. ‘Fans’ like you think that the only way to strengthen the squad is to go out and spend millions on spunkers like other debt-ridden clubs have done.

If you think that the club should go beyond its means, smash its own wage structure for mercenaries like the ones Citeh is collecting like panini stickers, then you should go and post on Arsenal Action.

I don’t know if Arsene knows best, but I’m damn sure he knows a f**k sight more than the likes of you pair of doom-merchants. Sell us yer season tickets; meet you outside the Armoury Saturday after next – I’ll be wearing a t-shirt with Arsene’s glasses through the years.

  20. PTangYangKipperBang says:

Do any of you “Anti Wenger” people really think that he is managing the club is an exercise in stubbornness? For goodness sake GROW UP! How pathetic, the guy is at the top of his profession. He is paid a very high wage. He is a professional and is so not deserving of this, quite ridiculous view. It is truly laughable that you people actually believe that lol. AFC is a very big business. People in management positions really need to perform. You portray AW as some sort of childish egotist who is determined to prove that he is right and everybody else wrong. Even at the expense of the club he loves and has comitted the rest of his future to. He could’ve gone to RM last year and had 300 mill to spend. He didn’t because he is entrenched in a project that needs completing. His departure then could’ve been an absolute catastrophe and would’ve affected AFCs future terribly. No other manager in the world could’ve steered AFC through the difficult conditions of the last few years – NO-ONE. Not Mourinho, Not Fergie None of em. Wenger is much more than just a manager he is really a lover of the club. He works like a dog to keep Arsenal at the top. Look at our squad! It is bloody well exciting. In fact it is awesome. Yes you have Chelseas expensive, shop bought Old boys. The other lot up north who are now in serious shit for various financial reasons inc the purchasing of overpriced flops like Hargreaves and Berbatov. But you – G1971 and the like would swap with them right. Cos they seem to have bragging rights down the pub. All that is a sham. Chelsea and Man Citeh are just 1 decision away the plughole. Manure and LFC are well in the crap. Our club is the only 1 being run properly. Don’t you see that? Like the cut of yo’ gib Rupe and thanks Rosicknote.

  21. G1971 says:

Ha ha, Dr Octopus and putanawang, get a room for your Wenger love in.

I am not anti-Wenger you mugs, I am anti the bullshit that the club spout on and on and on year in, year out.

We leave Highbury so we can increase turnover and compete in the transfer Market.

Wenger publicly identifies areas that need strengthening and publicly states he has he money to address the same but does fuck all about it.

    And you’re happy with that??

I’m not questioning your support, I am questioning whether you think that is acceptable and what you want your club to do.

Tell he fans one thing, then do the opposite.

I bet you have wenger’s initials tattooed on your arm in a little heart don’t you?

Anyway, you have clearly only known Arsenal under Wenger and think he can do no wrong, unfortunately you are wrong and as you can’t respect another person’s opinion then I will end this conversation here and leave you to masturbate over arsenal.com’s picture of our illustrious manager.

    Enjoy.

  22. Arsene Knows Shit says:

‘A Project that needs completing’?? Will you just listen to yourself. You’re beginning to sound like all those Spurs idiots who believe they’ll win the league when the year ends in one. WAKE UP!! We had a suspect keeper last season. We have the SAME keeper this season. Get you head out of Wenger’s ass and start asking some questions. Like..
Almunia’s ranking last season, in terms of saves to shots ratio, charts him as 19th in the Premier League. Surely this is no foundation required to win titles? Brian Clough used to say that Peter Shilton won him 15 points per season…well I’m pretty certain Aluminia cost us at least 10.

Arsene Wenger is NOT Arsenal football Club. The sooner people realsie this the less devastated they’ll be when he eventually leaves.

Why is our manager looking for a keeper and then failing at the first hurdle? Wenger must have calculated how many points Manual had cost him and decided to look elsewhere. The problem we have is Wenger cannot bring himself to admit he has shit judgement and sod all luck with keepers. He’s afraid to pay over the odds and be made to look foolish again. Just look at his record: Manninger, Richard Wright, Rami Shaaban and Almunia – all flops. Only Jens Lehmann had any real success, and that was because Wenger got lucky and Lehmann knew how to organise a defence. With Almunia he can always say ‘Well what do you expect from a spanish 2nd division keeper?’

Not calling for Wenger’s head. Not even calling for a load of new signings. All we need is a world class keeper (preferably one good enough to be first or second choice for his country).

  23. G1971 says:

    @Arsene Knows Shit.

It’s a lost cause mate, give it up.

The board are great coz we are getting out if debt, thumbs up for that in all seriousness but they will not reinvest in the squad like they told us they would.

Arsene is great coz he continuously lies.

He won’t say things like ‘{insert player name} is like a new signing’ or ‘We have great ‘spirit” when we concede the league in January.

But it don’t matter coz we don’t want to win things, we don’t need too, as long as Wenger is in charge everything is great.

    Arsene knows best my friend.

  24. rosicknote says:

Of course he will say he has the money to spent!! Can you imagine if he said he didn’t? Do you think any player will be interested in coming to Arsenal if Arsene said.. “Ok people, I only have 5million to spend this summer. And next summer’s going to be about that amount too”. FFS he has no choice but to say he HAS the money. Players are going to be put off instantly by that sort of admission because they know, good players will cost you. In the mean time, Arsene is the best man to steady the ship until we’ve done with our debts.

And I’m prepared to wait for that to happen. I’d rather being trophyless, so long as I know Arsenal will be here for another 100 years for my grandchildren to experience. And when that comes, they wouldn’t even be talking about there mere 5-6 years of trophyless years we went, because that is just a drop of bollocks which doesn’t desereve the hysteria surrounding it.

  25. G1971 says:

    So answer me this.

Why have the board continually told he supporters that money is there if he needs it?

Why this hear did they publicly state there was around £30m to strengthen the squad?

Why did SuperWenger say ‘we have no number 1 keeper’?

Why did he suggest we would be investing in a new keeper? Diminishing any respect and confidence Almunia had, then do nothing about it?

Why did he say ‘We need 5 CBs’ but start the season with 4, choosing not to invest further?

Hey, don’t bother answering, it will be more pro Wenger bullshit that I can’t be bothered to read.

I agree he is the best manager to see us through this ‘transition’ but stop fucking lying!!!! Treat the fans of this club with more respect and that goes for the board too.

We were here way before Wenger and we will be here way after he has gone too.

We deserve more respect and honesty.

  26. Larsporsenna says:

I Arsene is only interested in the bank balance how come he has won more trophies than any previous Arsenal manager while at the same time managing new training facilities and a new stadium?

  27. G1971 says:

If he is interested in winning trophies, why has he not invested in areas he absolutely said were concerns and weaknesses?

  28. sam says:

Whats the point in all this moaning, what the fuck is it going to change now? Theres only one thing left to do; get behind the team or fuck off!

  29. PTangYangKipperBang says:

Quite so Larsporsenna. If AW had failed to win anything for 5 years under normal circumstances then I could understand the criticism better. To negotiate the stadium move, training facilities, player contracts etc and still push for the title and retain CL status has been an incredible achievement. I say again – Noone other than AW could’ve done it so well. There has to be a long term view taken when doing things as massive as moving home. Sacrifices have had to be made in the short term to enable long term security and success. The media with its “instant” mentality creates the idea that 5 years is a long time without a trophy. I say it is certainly not. The club has been in for a pitstop but is now rejoining the race. Fully stocked and even a brand new engine. Look at the other clubs around us and their situations. Apart from the 2 sugar daddy ones they are in trouble. Wenger is a winner make no mistake and ruthless too. He has done what needed to be done. And masterfully to boot. It must be crap for those whose glass is half empty and filled with doom and insults. Shame you can’t see the wood for the trees. Possibly an even bigger shame that you are insulting and degrading an amazing manager and by association The Arsenal. Fans of other clubs and the media read the bile you come out with and use it to bash the club. To hear those dumbarses on the Brazil show saying things like “er i dunno the guys haad his day now, he’s gotta go” about Wenger cos we didn’t sign M Schwarzer was absolutely wrong. I felt ashamed to be tainted with this mans views.

  30. JK says:

Wenger is starting to remind me of Tony Blair. Lies lies lies I know better than everyone else, I’m in the position of power you can all fuck off, I know there’s a significant percentage of idiots who will support me no matter what I do, so I’ll let you argue amoungst yourselves while I scheme away. Mr Wenger is ludicrously overpaid, he wants to end up on the board, any shares Mr Wenger.

Tony really did think that there were WMD and it wasn’t all about oil honest, and Arsene really has been trying to build a squad capable of winning things, not just continually sell players and bringing in obscure cheap replacements with only the goal of qualifying for the CL to keep generating money.

Let’s face it we started off with an eager ambitious generous honest manager, now we have a disingenuous deceitful accountant who doesn’t give a fuck about the fans anymore because he moved to a new stadium, and like Tony, imported loads of voters who he sees as 10 a penny.

  31. bring back limpar says:

Whichever side of the proverbial bread your metaphorical butter is on I really do think there are more suitable things to focus your similarly educated minds on.

I personally get quite excited by the thought of having someone other than Arsene Wenger as our coach. Change is a good thing which shouldn’t be overlooked. By the same token one should not forget what it has taken to put us in our current position. Nobody other than Herbert Chapman has done as much to establish Arsenal as a global exponent of what is a truly wonderful sporting exercise.

Being a football fan is a lot like gambling. You know in the vast majority of cases it will bring you sorrow but you commit everything you have to it because the glory is unequalled. Personally I don’t see much difference in sticking your money on Wenger or not.

Either way, nothing is guaranteed and I’m going to try my best to enjoy it nonetheless.

I hope others see things in a similar way because at the moment we seem like a fanbase at war, and with or without Wenger that is going to be detrimental to our teams efforts.

Cut the bullshit and lets remember who we are! We are Arsenal and we are made of better things than this!

  32. Nice comment – and I’d just remind people that everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how much it differs from your own.

That opinion should be respected – the facts can certainly be debated but stick to the facts and leave the personal stuff out of it. Thanks.

  33. Chez says:

can somebody tell me when it was that arsene wneger got the power to go to any team and steal their best players? it is up to the board to negotiate any deal between any clubs. alot of ppl are forgetting that a number of reasons we lost the title last year was due to collective defensive errors. no goalkeeper in the world will win you a title, they wont even prevent the loss of title without a strong defensive mentality from all players, barcelona do not have a world class goalkeeper neither do ac milan, inter are a great defensive unit, real madrids keeper is only ever been a good shot stopper. gigi buffon did not win any titles for juve. its about the collective. its clear wenger tried to sign a goalkeeper. it dint work oh well move on. rhw areas tht need help have been addressed, apart from the goal koscielny was immense and almunia played well. i support arsenal and therefore i support every member of the team and coaching staff, until i have a reason not to. funny how you fans can make this noise on here but at the stadium u sit in silence.

  34. Matt says:

If you AKB’s want to be assosiated in the same way as we think of those wkrs from white shite lane then carry on saying you are happy with no trophies!!! AW has dragged us screaming down to that level with no trophy wins and lots of talk about how this is the year when it all comes right / or… this team is good enough to win but it may take another year or two!! He talks b*llocks and only achieved most of what he did on the back of a defence he inherited!!! His team was from 2004 onwards after the last of the english back 4 and Seaman left/retired! AKB what a load of crap……. I will be reading this same sh*t about him at the end of May next year after another wasted season ….but I will still support the team as hard and as loud as I can because it is not the players fault, it’s the Manager and the inept Board!

  35. UpUrs says:

Epic post! Simply hilarious! :) Too bad the comments aren’t….lighten up, ppl. No need to get anyone’s panties in a bunch. We’re only 3 games in and not doing too badly. Admittedly it can be much better but hey, I’d rather be where we are, Almunia and all, instead of where West Ham are…..or worse still, where the spuds are – losing at home to a team that’s been taken to the cleaners twice in both their previous matches.

  36. Lady Arsenal says:

HAHAHA for the Trading Places bet. Very good.

Sad it couldn’t lift everyone out of the same discussion we’ve been having on EVERY blog for what seems like an eternity. The 2 camps nonsense is SO pathetic. What a bunch of nerds these people are.

  37. N4 says:

Well said Arsene knows shit, the Spanish waiter cost us 10-15 points last season and will do the same again, is it any wonder why one of best captains we have had wants to leave, LACK OF INVESTMENT, while the spunkbubbles down the road continue to sign proven class ( Van der Vaart) we continue to sign French mercenery nobodys, just my opinion, if you dont like it sorry but i was here way before AW.

  38. Achilles says:

I really think wenger is a good manager cos no manager wil finish 3rd in d premier league wt d squad he had and d injuries he had 2 contend with. That said, i also think its upto him 2 upgrade d squad and become a world beater. But he’s choosen 2 take a gamble on what he has. Too bad fans dont have a say on how d club should b run. But all this arguement wont bring a keeper we all know we need. So we’re left wt one option. Support d players u have. This may even make almunia return 2 d form which saw lehman relegated to d bench. Besides, Sometimes, gambles do pay off. So lets wait till may before crucifyin wenger or else we’ll b eatin our words by then.

  39. Arsene Knows Shit says:

We have no option but to support the players. You won’t find me booing Almunia on the pitch when he screws up. Its not his fault he’s not a big game keeper, its Wenger’s for believing he is good enough to take us to the summit. Listen, Wenger hasn’t been completely idle over the summer and I’m not one of those who think he hasn’t tried to improve the defence. But in the critical area where we really need a confidence boost he’s failed miserably. What on earth was happening about signing a new keeper while Wenger was helping French TV slag off Les Blues in South Africa? His job first and foremost is deal with Arsenal’s problems, not leave things until so late in the day he gets dicked around by a trog like Mark Hughes. Why do we have scouts if they can’t find anyone other than Mark Schwarzer?

  40. Hand Ball Henry says:

I think that people saying I think Arsene done brill with the players he has etc. Lets not forget Wenger signed all these so called shite players All of them every person that’s there he gave the go ahead. Now saying that there is world class players in the bunch and as for Almunia cannot put the blame on the keepers maybe 1 in 10 mistakes you can say ya 100% but not all people remember that why rubbers are on the end of pencils coz we all make them.

On to better things i read every comment so far and am pleased that i support a club with supporters like ye fine gentlemen and women, Remember you can never be right or wrong when voicing an opinion!!!!
At the end of the day you love the club and admirer the Management and staff From the Director to the ticket sales there doing there best.

I like the fact that the club is a top four club and every year challenging for all cups sometimes it is frustrating that we are linked to every tom, dick and harry, that’s the British media for ya remember most of paper writers support there own clubs as well so don’t read into it that much excuse the pun.

Why can’t we be friends!!!!! Best of luck to the team fans and the staff football is a strange game love it or hate it Almunia is our keeper and Theo is hitting form and we have a better back line me thinks then the last 4 years the Sulks are booted out and Arshavin is still crazy what more could we ask for

    Have a nice day :)

Now go for the Champs league and Premier League and F.A Cup and why not through in the League Cup as well Clean Sweep Ya

  41. Hand Ball Henry says:

Arsene Knows Shit your saying one thing then going back on it straight away Make your point Bud!!!!!

Don’t say you won’t find me booing Almunia then saying that the Manager is shit that makes no sense Bud you are a Closet Bo o’er.

I am not an Arsene Knows Best person but he is the gaffer and as i said in the last post he built the entire (all) squad can’t complain and bring back one broken egg if the rest are alright what would the shop-keeper in tesco think of you!!!!!

Here is a tip do not look at newsnow during the transfer window it will drive you mad we where linked to one of David Beckhams kids during this window. I knew after signing Sebastien Squillaci no other deals would be done due to the timing of the deal. I was young once too and believed everything i read it happens to the best of us

  42. Arsene Knows Shit says:

Hand Ball Henry, what exactly confuses you about what I’ve written? The reason Almunia is still between the posts is down to Wenger. Its not Almunia’s fault he’s not top class so I won’t be booing him. What I will be doing is asking questions about Wenger. You know, the guy who actually identified we had a problem with his keepers at the end of last season? Forget the shimmering optimism of a bright shiny new season and cast your mind back to the latter part of last season if you are able.

What the fuck this has to do with broken eggs and Tesco escapes me.

What a joke we’re turning into. Why can’t we cough up an extra £1m for a keeper. Everyone knows Almunia is a disater waiting to happen. He will cost us 10 points every season. We pay higher ticket prices than anyone else in the WORLD to see a team with no ambition and who are milking us for cash. We earn £1m every home game yet can’t use one to get a half decent keeper. Disgrace. Wenger OUt

Sorry guys I am behind the team but the point by all sensible supporter of Arsenal is why must be looking back at 18 years of no trophies and that should be a measure of why fans should be content with no trophies with getting to almost 6years! What a warped reasoning. It’s like saying that because Adolph Hitler bombed London for 76 days if the same threats rears its ugly head then the authorities should use the same methods to defend the threat. So must Gooners wait 18 years before we win a trophy? As long as Aluminium is no.1 GK & Flapianski his no.2 I am willing to bet that horrendous goal keeping will be the order of the day. They are simply inconsistent and have wrong command of their area.

Why doesn’t vito get a decent crack of the whip? When I saw him in goal I thought out goal keeping crisis is behind us we’ve got a young Buffon. Then he makes a couple of mistakes and he’s dropped like a sack of shit.

Since then AW has been content to let two clowns make fools of themselves by unintentionally impersonating a sealion trying to catch a beachball. It’s fucking ridiculous that persists with playing those two cunts in goal, what and we’re not allowed to be pissed off about it. All this arguing has been caused by the manager, who has to take the criticism as well ad the praise. We need two managers, one to manage the defence.
